Classical Music “Alfresco” and Jazz Concerts

Is there truly anything that fills our souls more than classical music? The peace, the well being, the shear glory in life that it provides, cannot be reproduced. When you add to this formula, a soft June summer night with a concert “alfresco” and in the most beautiful of country settings, what more could one wish from life?

This classical music week at Papillon Mignon is a perfect opportunity to relax in the beautiful Ile de France countryside, while enjoying the many opportunities to listen to classical music. Days can be spent playing golf, tennis, riding horses, antiquing or seeing the many intriguing sites, (glass blowing factory) while the afternoons are organized in various musical endeavors around the valley.

Here are a few favorites:

*A variety of concerts are available during the summer months in the Chateau of Fontainebleau itself.

* Concerts are held as well in a variety of churches of Seine-et-Marne:
           
Chartrettes                                             
Celle-sur-Seine                                   
Genevraye
Moret sur Loing
Montcourt
Fromonville

* There are many jazz festivals during the summer with stars such as, Diango Reinhardt
* In Provins the annual May-June music festival is held.
* In Moret-sur-Loing, the Summer Sound and Light Festival July-September is held.

One afternoon is also planned for a visit to the home atelier of Francois Millet which is full of photographs and mementos from the artist's career. It is here that Millet painted some of his most famous pieces.

* Another fun side trip is to visit the chocolate factory in Nemours. It is called "Chocolaterie de Lis" where poppies are used for liqueurs and candies.

The final evening is reserved for the Au Revoir cocktail.
